Napping is one of our favorite topics around here. Namely, how certain people in our household refuse to take them. Actually this was the case but it is getting steadily better. The Munchkin isn't keen on long naps. We accept this fact. Even the creche can't get her to nap, and we had been told by other parents that the creche could work amazing miracles with baby behavior, since they tend to be less sentimental than parents.
Often you don't realize something has changed right away, it happens so gradually. Right around 4 months, whilst in New Mexico, we noticed that less and less fighting to get the Munchkin down for daytime naps. She would also demonstrate much more clearly when she was tired, rather than the muddled messages you feel you get when they are just born and don't know themselves why they are unhappy. Our Munchkin rubs her eyes, yawns, and starts to rub her face against you when she is getting tired. Wait too long and she will start to cry. In short, it's not rocket science, but it has been only the last couple weeks that we realized she was really doing this consistently. Granted her naps are still ridiculously short but she seems to have accepted the fact that she does need them from time to time.

Well when you have an attack baby, they probably instinctively fear missing a tasty bit of prey if they check out for a nap.
It's amazing, but good that you can read the signs. Also, the more she naps, the more she'll want to nap. Sometimes you forget and think they are like little adults, but actually they get overtired and sleep worse. We were busy Friday, saturday and sunday and Rose wasn't getting her naps, and she slept poorly at night, but I got her back on her proper nap cycle and she is sleeping much better at night. for rose, she's awake about 2 hours, then sleeps 2 hours or so, and repeat until night time.
wow, Rose is still napping so much during the day? Maybe our second one will take a leaf out of her book.
Lily napped that much too, and still has one long afternoon nap (Thank God or I would have no sanity). But it's a self-perpetuating thing, if she doesn't get enough sleep, she doesn't sleep well, if she naps regularly, she's a much better sleeper at night.
yes. I am definitely putting in an order for one like that for our second one! Sleepers = keepers.
