Oh man, we love our little Munchkin to bits, but it feels like getting hit by a perpetual stream of trucks some days. Last night we had a particularly rough evening. First time I simply gave up counting how many times she woke up. OH and I do a particularly irritating thing where one of us will posit a thesis to explain the Munchkin's latest sleep problem, the other will not agree, only to then posit the same thesis a bit later, having totally forgotten that the other one already suggested it. I guess we are just too tired to remember whether we thought the idea or it was told to us originally but I notice we both do it.
I mention this now after a more challenging night than usual. Munchkin has had a stuffy nose for what feels like FOREVER, meaning she wakes up because she can't breath well and then of course cries. On top of this, we are wondering if she is starting to teeth. Teething is a mysterious event which can last for days, weeks, or if you are particularly lucky, months according to the books. Some kids aren't effected at all, others go crazy. In most cases, it is the first teeth that are the worst and then the babies get used to the sensation. Sometimes, however, it is very painful for the child and they aren't able to get used to the pain.
I still have my fingers crossed that our Munchkin will give us a break just this one time and have an easy go of teething, if that is what kept her up for over 2 hours last night. In the meantime, my brain is mush so it's picture time!

Mostly you hear of kids not liking tummy time, but our Munchkin can't get enough of it - to the point where she gets herself all pissed off because she can't crawl yet. Enter OH's patented "Tummy-Time Blocker". It's more of a deterrent than a block since she just rolls onto the pillow nowadays.

Ahh, this smile melts my heart - less so at 3am last night though.

Munchkin has been upgraded to economy plus bedding

Flight attendant, I ordered the special meal.

Many thanks to H and A, whom we visited last year. H already gave me loads of great maternity wear and then on top of it they sent us these totally adorable trousers. As if I didn't have excuse enough already to pat the baby booty.

Apparently we do not need to worry about the Munchkin getting less sleep if we carry her facing forward in the wrap

Who would guess that smiling face in picture two would be having such a sad time at night :(
yes but fortunately we forget these things very quickly!
Looking at that last picture: it's amazing how babies will sleep in the most uncomfortable (to me) sleeping positions. But then, in a comfy bed, at 3am, there's not so much sleep :(
Hope it gets better soon.
Sorry! I hope it's not teething. We've been having enough problems with that and it didn't start until 8 months! I don't know what to tell you, if you've fed her and changed her and you know she's sleepy, maybe try the crying it out thing. Hard in the same room, I know, but might just have to let her work it out. She's also just about the right age for discovering her 'lovey', which can be a godsend. Lily has a satin edged blanket that she masticates something fierce.
Lauren, thank you for reminding me! Is it safe to introduce a blanket at her age? Like, she won't suffocate on it or something if it's lying in the crib?
I think in this case she was legitimately unhappy because of her stuffy nose (a cough as well) but we are going to start the hard core sleep training soon.
How cute! Though I know the late nights are not much fun. Ugh. I wish I had something useful or insightful to say....but alas I do not.
I think she's old enough for a blanket. They don't really start pulling them up over themselves until they are a little older and at that point, they are pretty much past the suffocation point. And let's see, sleeping happy baby or unhappy not-sleeping baby with no blankie, you decide! You can get her a small "lovey" too, if you are worried. I know the blanket that Lily has, the company makes like a mini-size (Giggles and Giraffes). RoseBaby's blankie is a cotton quilt-y one that my friend Steph made for Lily.
Cool, I'm excited for her to have a lovey! I have very fond memories of my "blanky" and "shirty" from when I was little.
