Weekend Roundup

Thanks to a relatively rain-free weekend, we had good fun all three days. The doomsday winter of snow and freezing cold temperatures has yet to realize itself. In fact it has been relatively dry and mild for a Dutch winter as of yet. There is still time and in fact I wouldn't regret a cold spell, if only to kill off all the mosquito eggs.*

Friday I had lunch with mamas at a place new to me Mazzo, which also has a changing room. This now brings the total to two restaurants I know of that have changing facilities for babies. It was very nice if slow in service, but when you're with a baby that is the general speed of things so no one was complaining. A very nice lunch and fun to meet other working mums. That afternoon I rolled over to a friend's for coffee. C and D are expecting their first kiddo in a few months, so we are very excited for them naturally. In the evening the Munchkin more or less slept in her normal pattern, allowing OH and I to watch Super 8. Really good, and I am a wimp at watching violence in films.

Saturday was Get Stuff Done. We restocked on food for the week. In the afternoon I met up with some other gals to plan C's babyshower, the same C I saw on Friday. I am looking forward to this especially as C helped plan my shower so now I get to return the favor. We did almost nothing of interest at all in the evening. I think I made a pasta casserole (was craving lasagne but had only half of the ingredients for it). Living the wild life abroad, woo!

Sunday we had breakfast with C & D. No normally we are not stocking them like this every day, so don't call the cops to get a restraining order on us. We tried breakfast at the Pulitzer Hotel, which was really nice! The food was typical hotel buffet, and it was bloody expensive, but it was nice to be somewhere very clean with good service. We purchased a paper calendar, I took some jewelery to be resized, and in the afternoon we got to talk to our friends O & W who will be coming to visit in March after abandoning us last fall to return back to South Africa.

There were some Munchkin milestones as well but I'll save those for a future post - I imagine most readers fall asleep after Friday afternoon recountings of our uber exciting lives. Well, too the hell bad for you reader**, I have no memory anymore and I have to write this stuff down somewhere.

*it's the curse of living in a wet country. When the winters aren't very cold, we have bumper crops of mosquitos in the summer. You need the freeze to destroy the eggs.

** admit it, you secretly LOVE reading my boring weekend roundups. Masochists.

Weekends are what they are, sometimes exciting, sometimes not. Cold weather coming to Chicago on Thursday....booooo.
