How to Get Up Really Butt Ass Early

Recently I realized I get up at 5:30 in the morning these days. It did not happen in a week. Or really by choice. It just sort of happened and here I am. I'm happy to be here, which is even more surprising. I think if you'd told any past version of myself about this they'd have told you you were crazy and needed to lay off the recreational drugs.

It started with having a Munchkin. Well actually it started with being more of a morning person. In general, that is. I went down to 36 hours a week, spread over 4 days. OH's company works more from 9:30-6:00 so taking the evening shift of picking up Munchkin from creche wasn't best for him. So I do the evening shift. Which means I have to leave work on time, and even a little early. I can't work late if I need to finish something. If I need more time to finish something, I need to get in early. But since I already get in a bit earlier, that means needing to get in even earlier.

Then I decided I needed to improve my strength. Going out at 8pm is not really my best moment, I know night is when many activities and sport is done in adult life, but I generally am a waste at such things by that time (more of a morning person see?). So I decided to get up a little earlier once a week to go to the gym. Then I forgot to change my alarm clock back from those early mornings. I would just go to work. Lo - got lots done! So I stuck to it. I get my exercise in, I get work done. Sleeping in until 8am feels like heaven on the weekends, perfect for toddler-aged children.

I'm sure in another incarnation I'll look back at this time and revert back to my "this is crazy" opinion, but I'm enjoying this rather odd schedule as it works for me now.

Doesn't seem odd to me. I've been an early morning person for decades.
