Vehicle Trouble

My main mode of transit is my bike. Public transportation is a close second. Like a good American however, I feel the need to have many vehicles. So when I bought a mamafiets for transporting the Munchkin to and fro last year, I naturally did not sell my old, normal bike. The difference for those momentarily forgetting their bike lore, is that the mamafiets has a seat in the front or back (or both!) for kids and it has a broader and sturdier frame than a normal piece-of-crap bike that we all generally tool around on. On top of that we inherited an even older bike from friends when they moved. So I have a total of three bikes now. All of which now have problems.

The normal bike - I do use it, when I'm going out sans Munchkin. The other day a horrible rattling sound began. Sadly I knew what it was because this bike has made it before. It was the sound of one of the spokes of the wheel coming undone on one end and clanging against the rest of the spokes.

The mamafiets - the dynolight in the front has gone out. This is a light that is powered by your pedaling and is notorious for being an unreliable piece of equipment. And with a kid on board, I am not so nonchalant as I used to be, I want cars and people to be able to see us.

The old ass bike - generally frightening and have never dared to move it from its spot.

This means this weekend we will have an epic trip to the bike shop to have all these various bits and bobs solved. I'm hoping they can take a tire from the old ass bike to replace my lesser-spoked one on the normal one. I'm hoping they'll pay me maybe 10 EUR for the rest of the old ass bike or possibly the value of fixing the light on the mamafiets. Especially I am hoping they can do it all very quickly since having all your vehicles out of commission is not so convenient.

Transportation issues are always a pain...unless you are your Uncle G in Ohio who looks at as just another opportunity to fix something.

Hmm, I've never had a spoke go bad. Does it impact performance? Is just annoying? It's all going to be cheaper than having a car go bad on you!!
