I was catching the train on a rare evening switch up which OH was picking up Munchkin from creche so I could work later. The phone rang - it was OH. I said hello, what's up babe. I thought his plans for the evening might have been cancelled.
He said, "Guess what just arrived in the mail?"
Happy happy passport time!!
Just a day after I abandoned hope, the passport arrived in the mail today. Why it took two weeks to send an envelop 10 city blocks is a mystery to me, but it was definitely mailed on the day the consulate mailed it. So mysterious! But it doesn't matter, the passport is safe home, filled with shiny new pages and ready to get a visa for Vietnam and less excitingly, allow me to board a flight to Luxembourg in the next couple weeks. I had just made an appointment at the police to do an "aangift" which I have no idea what that translates to but I guess declaration or something? Declare passport stolen. I was all freaked out about identity theft. I had an emergency appointment at the consulate to get a new passport scheduled. Fortunately all these things can be done really quickly and easily, making one feel like their tax money is going somewhere useful in both countries after all.
I seriously sang happy welcome home passport songs all the way home. However I think if I need to do that again I shall simply bite the bullet and make an appointment. Or send via registered mail like a smart person. Probably took a few months off my life with that stress!

I toooooooooooold you so :)
I will be happy to sing the Happy Welcome Home Passport song with you.
Yay!! That's a long time in the mail though....apparently your taxes are only paying for SOME of the services. Ugh.
Hoorah! When are you going to Vietnam? Munchkin, too? Why Vietnam? Very cool. I'm boggled that you've need so many new pages added to your passport! I wouldn't think you would need the stamps in your inter-European travels.
Lauren, they are for all our stupid trips to the UK!
Yay, so happy! Now we can finish booking our Vietnam trip!!
